Mentor’s Corner: Guiding the Next Generation

Hi, judges!

We’re proud to unveil Mentor’s Corner, a new initiative from the International Judge Program (IJP), a dedicated forum built to celebrate, support, and empower mentorship in the judge community.

Judging is more than rules enforcement,  it’s about leadership, integrity, education, and community. As judges, we hold a unique position of trust and responsibility at events. But no judge gets there alone. Many of us have benefitted from a guiding hand, a mentor who helped us to understand not only the rules, but also the dynamics of judging: teamwork, empathy, decision-making under pressure. Mentor’s Corner is our way of paying that experience forward.

A space to grow together

Whether you’re a Level 2 veteran who’s helped countless candidates, or a freshly certified judge eager to share your perspective, Mentor’s Corner is for you. It’s a forum where judges from around the world can meet, learn from one another, and build lasting professional relationships based on shared values and goals.

Mentorship has always been a key pillar of our program. Now, with this dedicated space, we’re creating a space for those interested in sharing knowledge, guiding new judges, and strengthening the community through mentorship.

What you’ll find inside

The IJP Mentorship Forum is designed to be practical, interactive, and community-driven. Here’s a look at what it offers:

✔️ Discussion spaces focused on judge development
✔️  Practical Advice and guides for supporting and guiding new judges
✔️ Real mentorship experiences and lessons learned
✔️ Resources and tools to to enhance the mentoring proces

Whether you’re looking to refine your mentoring style, navigate common challenges, or simply connect with like-minded peers, the forum offers a supportive environment to do just that.

Why mentorship matters

Mentorship is a powerful engine for professional and personal growth, both for the mentor and the mentee. For mentees, it’s a chance to learn faster, avoid common pitfalls, and build confidence. For mentors, it offers a rewarding opportunity to reflect on your own journey, improve your communication skills, and give back to the community in a meaningful way.

More importantly, mentoring contributes to the long-term health of the judge program. It helps retain new judges, fosters a culture of collaboration, and strengthens the consistency and quality of judging across events and regions.

In short: Mentorship helps everyone level up.

Join the initiative, be part of the change.

If you’re a member of the International Judge Program who has some experience with mentoring or simply a strong desire to grow and help others, we invite you to step into the Mentor’s Corner.
