Introducing Our First Volunteer Work Groups

Bruna introduces the first four volunteer work groups of the IJP: Translations, exam question writers, mentoring & education, and website, as well as the judges who will lead those teams.

Global greetings, judges!

As we walk into an exciting new year for the IJP, we are thrilled to announce the creation of our first volunteer work groups. These work groups aim to address some of the core work areas of the International Judge Program, and help us get the program up and running as soon as possible. Let’s dive into the details of each group and meet the leaders guiding them!

Translations - Looking for new project lead!

Project started by Riccardo Tessitori

Objective: The Translations Group aims to alleviate language barriers and make our resources accessible to a global audience.

Exam Question Writers - Led by Dani Solé

Objective: The Exam Question Writers Group is dedicated to assembling exams that will support our certification system, including certification of new judges, level advancements, and maintenance.

Leader Profile:

Hello! I’m a Magic Judge from Barcelona, Spain. I have been a judge since 2004, so this year will be my 20th anniversary! During these years I have had the opportunity to meet many people and make many friends, thanks to this lovely game.
In my normal life, I work as a secondary school chemistry teacher (ages 14-18 years old). I have two children, a 2-year-old
son and a 6-year-old daughter. So, as you can imagine, I’m quite entertained ;-). I enjoy playing board games with friends (when I have time!), reading books, and playing role games.

Mentoring and Education - Led by Monica Gonzalez

Objective: The Mentoring Group aims to establish a structured and effective mentoring program aimed at fostering the growth and development of judges within the community.

Leader Profile:

Hi, I am Monica Gonzalez, from Madrid, and I have been a judge for 7 years. During this time I have seen how this community has become part of my family, and that is something I wish for all judges. Traveling to events, meeting people from other cultures has not only been a fun experience, but it has helped me to develop myself.
In my non-judging life I provide tools, training and support to people in my company who want to become citizen developers. Why? For the same reason as in the judge program. Because for me the most important thing is people, and I believe in an environment that provides tools and support so that everyone can grow and develop by helping each other.

Website - Led by Milorad Pavlovic

Objective: The Website Group focuses on maintaining, updating and enhancing our WordPress website at www.internationaljudgeprogram.org

Leader Profile:

Since I couldn’t become a Spiderman, web design is the closest thing to do. When you see me in a Tournament, you can always chat with me about all sorts of geeky things, play a few rounds of Backgammon, or bring forth your instrument for a jam session. Big fan of coffee and chocolate. Cats and dogs owner. My Mojo is my brand. Multiculturality is what makes Magic so great. Favorite quote “Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it” – Spock

To wrap things up

If you’d like to get involved in any of these work groups, we encourage you to reach out to the respective project leads or fill the volunteer form present on our website. If you have an idea for a new work group, feel free to email me at bruna@internationaljudgeprogram.org and let’s discuss it!

We are very excited with the formation of these volunteer work groups and opportunities they present for growth and collaboration. Also, we’d like to deeply thank everyone who has volunteered to contribute to the IJP for your continued dedication and support.

Warm regards,

Bruna on behalf of the IJP Program Leads
